Leveraging Business Intelligence Systems To Manage A Partner's Performance, Compensation and Expectations

If you ask any financial director/administrator of a law firm, "What is the most challenging part of your role in the firm?" A popular answer might be, "Trying to manage all of my many bosses.the partners." What makes the legal industry so unique is that the "partner" often serves a dual role as both a "key producer" as well as an "equity owner". Therefore, the financial director is essentially tasked with managing, measuring, evaluating and forecasting the financial performance of his/her boss(es). This scenario exists in few industries outside of the Legal Industry.
This situation has existed for many years. However, advances in Business Intelligence technology have helped reduce the strain of these tasks on financial administrators by helping to automate some of these functions. This session will focus on how firms can leverage this technology to help measure partner performance, determine equitable "performance based" compensation while also helping to set future profit expectations. You will also learn how firms are adopting a "self service" strategy that brings this key financial performance information directly to the partner, and increases profitability as a result.
About the Presenter:
Jeff Suhr, Senior Product Specialist for Data Fusion's IntelliStat Business Intelligence Suite, has spent ten years at ADERANT (Formerly Solution 6, Keystone Solutions and Barrister Information Systems) in numerous roles supporting the company's Business Intelligence and Practice Management offerings. In this capacity, he plays an instrumental role in determining the future direction of the IntelliStat offering. Jeff has been recognized as an authority on using Business Intelligence systems to facilitate Financial Budgeting and Forecasting functions as well as Profitability analysis. He maintains in-depth knowledge on a number of Legal Practice Management Applications (Elite, CMS and Javelan) as well as HRIS and Payroll applications (ADP, Ultipro, Ceridian). |
