Elite Upgrade Services
If your firm is planning to upgrade, Data Fusion can help make
sure everything goes smoothly. Many upgrades can be done routinely,
with a minimum of outside assistance. For some platforms, however,
particularly Unix/Informix installations, it pays to do some homework
before embarking. Elite upgrades can require related upgrades to
operating systems, compilers, Informix versions, Fulcrum versions
and other supporting software.
Over the years, we have developed and fine-tuned a set of
tools including a standard document listing all enhancements and
fixes when upgrading to 2.80b SP4.1 or Enterprise, a standard project
plan for implementing the upgrade for NT/Informix and Unix/Informix,
and test scripts for all front-end applications as well as back-end
analysis of the updates. A benchmark-timing document has also been
created for the firm to track the timings of all standard processes
and reports run on the Elite system.
At a minimum, you will want to develop a solid, flexible upgrade
plan that includes evaluation and modifications to any custom programming
you have in place and a "before and after" audit to make
sure the upgrade has financial and procedural integrity. Some of
the services that we are offer are:
- Check the integrity of the general ledger account length throughout
your Elite System. If discrepancies are reported, Data Fusion
will work with you to correct the account numbers in error.
- Work with the Firm through the re-structuring process including
creating a general ledger "was-is" list to be used in
the process of converting general ledger accounts to the new structure
and format.
- Implement a test database to be used to test the upgrade and
for application training.
- Complete benchmark timings before and after the upgrade to optimize
operating system and database set up.
- Complete test scripts for all applications used by the Firm.
These test scripts would test the front-end client software followed
up by back end SQL statements to check the integrity of the database.
